Two days ago, I found a shell-less egg in the coop. Apparently this happens to some hens early on in their career. Come to think of it, the strange orange “poop” I’d observed last week at that very same spot, must have been the yolk of another egg precursor.

I don’t know which of my girls it is that’s doing this. One of them was making a new sound, but whoever she is, she’s also a natural ventriloquist, for I could not make out which bird was making the sound.

Moving away from the topic of eggs, I must say that I am quite taken by the beauty of their plumage.

All things bright and beautiful, the Lord God made them all.
