From November 2011 to July 2014, I facilitated a meeting for young women called Daughters of Eve or DOE in short. We met weekly and tried to do fun things and useful things. Of course, we also did some Bible study. In all, we had 70 meetings, which we documented in a website called Daughters of Eve.

About a month after we began, I wrote a theme song for the group. The song is rather long, so we sang the chorus only twice, after the first and last stanzas.

Some years later, Prisy and Lydia sang and recorded the song, accompanied by Natalie on the piano.

Women who fear God have so much to gain.
Help us forsake all and cling to the truth,
And trust You fully like Hannah and Ruth

Daughters of Eve, service is key
As to the Lord, submissively,
Godly and joyful and fearless and bright

2. May thoughts of future years cause us to laugh.
God’s on our side when the going gets tough.
Who can be ’gainst us, O why do we fear?
“Hallelujah,” we sing, Sarah’s girls gathered here.

3. Like deac’ness Phoebe, in church, as is fit,
Quietly, sweetly, let each do her bit
God of Tabitha, whose life showed Your light,
Help our light broadcast Your truth in the night.

4. We’re here, Lord, as daughters, mothers and wives,
Sisters and aunts who have given our lives
To‘the Giver of life and the Lover of souls,
To Jesus our Saviour who made us whole.

5. Like Esther help us be ready to act,
Beautiful boldness, much prayer and tact.
If we stay silent avoiding the risk,
Who knows if we’re here for such time as this!

6. Help us be women who study the Book,
Manage our houses, and know how to cook.
Help us develop these Bethany skills,
Women of godliness and Spirit filled.
